A love story featuring Our Brides in Our Dresses!
Colleen Kaufman, met her Husband David as they were training for the same half marathon, The Best Damn Race, held every February in Safety Harbor FL.
David was playing beach volleyball one Sunday morning and had spotted Colleen running by, and asked their mutual friend about her. Quickly, they had each others phone numbers and began making plans to train together. Colleen was a little apprehensive at first as she had never met David, but was also intrigued and after corresponding, she very quickly became excited to get to know this mystery man who was running the same race as her. They met on a cold Tuesday morning in January at 5am for their first training run together. Things were a bit awkward at the start, with a handshake. They quickly looked each other in the eyes, smiled, and off they went! Their chemistry was strong and connection was clear. That Sunday they had their first date. Things moved quickly from there, they became best friends and before they knew it, they were madly in love.
The proposal: A year and a half later David had reenacted their first date night, after dinner one evening they had walked hand in hand, reminiscing about how they had met and how they had felt about each other and when they got to that exact same spot where they had first met in person for their 5am run. David got down on one knee, held out the most beautiful ring Colleen had ever seen, and he asked, “Will you marry me?”….through teary eyes Colleen said, “ Yes. Yes!! Of course I will marry you!!!”
Colleen and David’s Wedding was on 9/3/2017 at NOVA 535 in beautiful Downtown St. Pete, FL.
Colleens favourite memories of her special day were entering the ceremony, walking down the aisle to exchange their vows and dancing at the reception with her Husband David, family and friends to celebrate their special day together.
Colleen bought her beautiful Calla Blanche Dress at CC’s Bridal Boutique in Tampa, FL http://www.tampabridalshops.com/
Colleen had the best experience shopping for her wedding dress, she loved everything about it! Colleen’s only issue was that there were so many beautiful dresses she loved, but kept searching for that “you’ll know it’s the one” dress that everyone kept telling her about.
Colleen had gone to to CC’s Bridal Boutique with her Matron of Honor several times, and finally decided on a dress that was very pretty and felt good. She had tried on so many, and knew it was time to make a decision. Luckily, Colleen wanted to wait until her mom was with her to officially say YES to the dress. Mom had flown in from Ohio a couple weeks later and their first order of business was “The Dress”! Over those couple weeks Colleen thought about the dress a lot, and kept asking herself if she had “that feeling” everyone talks about and thought maybe she did. Colleen just kept telling herself that it was absolutely beautiful and she had made up her mind. She was given sage advice that once you make up your mind on the dress, stop looking!
The day finally arrived to show mom the dress, as Colleen was walking back to the designated dressing room, she walked past a rack of new arrivals and her eyes slightly shifted to peak, and out of nowhere this dress jumped out at her, it was like it waved at her! (to this day Colleen says the dress actually chose her). She instantly stopped, pulled it out from the beautiful dresses surrounding it, and gasped, “What is this??” Jaimie, the sales lady who is now Colleen’s friend, said “this is a Calla Blanche, it’s the Carrie dress. Beautiful isn’t it. Okay, now let’s go get your dress on so you can show your mom!”
The moment was here. Colleen put on the dress, it was just as she remembered. She entered the room to join her mom. Colleen Mom said, “It’s very pretty Col, you look so beautiful.”
Colleen looked in all the mirrors surrounding her, chatted about it, talked about how to bustle it, etc..but she felt disconnected and couldn’t stop thinking about the Calla Blanche dress that grabbed her attention.
Colleen sheepishly said, “I don’t know, I think I might want to try on that other dress.” Colleen cringed because she knew this decision had become somewhat exhausting for everyone. But with all the support and love in the world, her mom and Jamie said, “yes of course! Now is the time, if you don’t try it on now, you’ll never know.” Thank you! Yes, please bring it back. From the moment Colleen put it on, she absolutely melted. She had never in her life been so in love with how she felt and looked in a dress, as she did in this one. It was like rays of sunshine burst through the room and Colleen felt at peace. She knew, this was the one, this was the feeling everyone was talking about! Colleen came from behind the curtain to show her mom, and she was instantly in tears, she knew too! It was a moment in Colleen’s life that she will never forget. Timing was everything, as soon as Mom was there by her side, Colleen and her dress were able to find each other!
